The 6th China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference was convened in Hanoi, Vietnam from November 24 to 26, 2009. The theme of the conference was "strengthening mutual legal assistance for effectively combating transnational organized crimes". Nguyen Minh Triet, then president of Vietnam, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Tran Quoc Vuong, then prosecutor-general of Vietnam, Cao Jianming, prosecutor-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, prosecutors-general and deputy prosecutors-general, and attorneys-general and deputy attorneys-general from ASEAN member states, as well as representatives from Hong Kong and Macao SARs attended the conference.
During the conference, participants adopted the Joint Declaration of the Sixth China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference, which called for strengthened cooperation in combating terrorism and financing of terrorism, drug trafficking, smuggling across borders, corruption, money laundering, cybercrime and other types of transnational crime.
