In pursuit of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla's commitment to delivering "Compassionate Justice for All," the Department of Justice - Board of Claims (DOJ-BOC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) have partnered to streamline compensation for child victims of violent crimes. During a ceremony at the DOJ Justice Hall, officials, including Undersecretary Deo L. Marco, BOC Chairperson Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Miguel F. Gudio, Jr., DSWD Undersecretaries Adonis P. Sulit and Monina Josefina H. Romualdez, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to enhance the referral and support system for these victim within DSWD's Residential Care Facilities.

Republic Act No. 7309, the law which created the DOJ-BOC, mandates to compensate victims of unjust imprisonment, wrongful conviction, and violent crimes.

Under the MOA, the DOJ-BOC is bound to compensate child victims of different forms of injustices, including but not limited to online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), rape, torture, human trafficking, illegal detention, enforced disappearance and many more.

The DOJ-BOC will review and process claims referred by the DSWD, providing monetary compensation to qualified beneficiaries to help them recover from injustices. "This supports our goal of holistic justice, extending beyond prosecution to victim healing and rehabilitation," stated DOJ Usec Marco.

DSWD Usec Sulit added, "May this partnership inspire meaningful outcomes and enhance our efforts to deliver top-tier care to children in DSWD centers." Secretary Remulla praised both agencies for pioneering this milestone in the nation's Restorative and Corrections system.
