155th joint patrol of Mekong River concludes

Operation on the Mekong River launched, according to a report by Overseas Network on July 22.

 At 9:00 a.m. on July 22, as China's patrol boats 53105, 53107, and 53108 set sail with a whistle from the Jingha Police Wharf in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China, the 155th China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand joint patrol and law enforcement operation on the Mekong River was officially launched.

At the same time, law enforcement boats from Laos and Myanmar set sail simultaneously from the wharves in Mongmo, Laos, and Wan Pong, Myanmar, respectively.

They will converge in the scheduled waters and then carry out the joint patrol and law enforcement operation together. The report states that in this operation, China's boat 53107 serves as the command post of the joint patrol and law enforcement fleet, which is jointly commanded by the commanders from the four parties of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.

The joint patrol and law enforcement fleet will conduct joint law enforcement operations such as joint land-water inspection and joint garrison training in key waters like Ban Xiangguo on the Mekong River, and work together to crack down on various cross-border illegal and criminal activities including drug-related, fraud-related, smuggling, and human trafficking offenses. According to the commander of the joint patrol and law enforcement operation, this operation is expected to take 4 days and 3 nights. A total of over 100 law enforcement officers from the four parties of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, and 7 law enforcement boats from China, Laos, and Myanmar are deployed for the operation. It is reported that during the operation, the relevant law enforcement departments of the four countries will also hold a multilateral information exchange meeting in Chiang Saen, Thailand. They will analyze and exchange views on the current security situation in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin, case clues, etc., and discuss the key points of future law enforcement cooperation.
