From Dec 8 to 19, a delegation of 15 prosecutors from the Russian Federation participated in a 12-day training program in East China's Fujian province. The program provided them with an immersive experience of China's achievements in the rule of law through thematic lectures, on-site teaching sessions, and cultural visits.

Hosted by the International Cooperation Bureau of China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) and organized by the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate, the program commenced with a warm reception in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian. Hou Jianjun, Chief Prosecutor of the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate, met with the delegation.

Hou emphasized the longstanding friendship and solid foundation for cooperation and exchanges between China and Russia. He noted that the training program is a concrete implementation of the annual cooperation agenda between the SPP and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, and will further strengthen ties and cooperation between the procuratorial organs of both countries.

He expressed the hope that, under the guidance of the SPP, the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate would utilize the program as an opportunity to work with its Russian counterparts to implement work arrangements and cooperation plans regarding procuratorial work of both countries, strengthen traditional friendship, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly enhance professional capabilities, thereby providing robust legal support for the economic and social development of both countries and the region.

Liu Zhiyuan, Director of the SPP's International Cooperation Bureau, and Wang Hua, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Fujian Provincial People's Procuratorate, addressed the opening ceremony.

During the program, Chinese procuratorial organs briefed the participants on China's procuratorial practice in the country's law-based governance, covering topics such as the constitutional role and functions of Chinese procuratorial organs, the application and innovation of big data in prosecution, and judicial assistance in criminal matters.

Participants conducted on-site visits to procuratorial organs in the province's Fuzhou, Pingtan county, Quanzhou, and Xiamen, as well as the School of Law at Xiamen University. They toured legal education bases focusing on public interest litigation, protection of minors, marine ecological conservation, and the protection of lawful rights and interests of private enterprises and Taiwan compatriots and enterprises.

They also visited the Fujian Digital Government Exhibition Center, the Procuratorial Service Center of the Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District, and cultural sites such as the Sanfang Qixiang Historical and Cultural Block in Fuzhou.

Through thematic lectures, exchanges and discussions, and on-site teaching, prosecutors from China and Russia learned from each other, enhanced mutual understanding and consolidated consensus. Together, they explored new pathways for the connectivity and integration of rule-of-law civilizations under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Chief Prosecutor of the Xiamen Municipal People's Procuratorate Chen Yu, Chief Prosecutor of the Quanzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate Shi Jianqing, and Chief Prosecutor of the People's Procuratorate of the Pingtan Comprehensive Experimental Zone Yu Shenhua, participated in related exchange activities.
