Chief Prosecutor of Beijing procuratorate meets with Russian prosecutorial delegation

Zhu Yapin, Chief Prosecutor of the Beijing People's Procuratorate, met with a nine-member Russian prosecutorial delegation on Jan 20. The delegation was headed by a senior official in charge of legal statistics and information technology at the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, and included the chief prosecutors of Moscow and St. Petersburg, among others.

Zhu welcomed the delegation and exchanged views with them on the  application of modern science and technology in procuratorial work.

He noted that the supreme procuratorial organs of China and Russia have officially established a cooperation mechanism between the Beijing People's Procuratorate and the Moscow City Prosecutor's Office through an agreement on cooperation between designated local procuratorial organs, laying an institutional foundation for deeper collaboration.

He said the visit of the Russian prosecutorial delegation would help enhance mutual understanding and expand cooperation, demonstrating the effectiveness of the cooperation mechanism. Zhu expressed the hope that both sides would further strengthen exchanges and continuously expand the cooperation agreement.

The Russian prosecutorial delegation thanked Zhu for the meeting and the briefing from the Beijing procuratorate. They said they were impressed by the efforts of the Beijing procuratorate to advance the digital procuratorial work, particularly its use of artificial intelligence in case handling. They expressed a desire to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning in these areas to expand cooperation.

Liu Zhiyuan, Director General of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, attended the meeting. Zhang Zhaoxia, First Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Beijing People's Procuratorate, presided over the exchange event.
