Basic Information of the branch

Established in 2013 with the approval from the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, the Gansu Branch of the National Prosecutors College operates under the Gansu Provincial People's Procuratorate. It is pivotal in providing procuratorial education and training across the province and fulfilling national training directives. In collaboration with Gansu Open University, it offers undergraduate and junior college law programs, serving as an important platform for cultivating procuratorial talent and advancing the rule of law in Gansu.

The branch boasts two campuses in Lanzhou and Tianshui. The Lanzhou campus, located in Chengguan district spans 2.3 mu (0.15 hectares) with a total construction area of 13,599 square meters, laying the foundation for procuratorial education and training in the province. The Tianshui campus, situated in Ganquan town of Maiji district lies in the core territory of Maiji Mountain humanistic ecological circle, with a superior geographical location and pleasant climate. Spanning 89.94 mu of land and a construction area of 38,897 square meters, it consists of eight main buildings, including a teaching building, conference center, administrative and activity centers, and apartment buildings. Facilities include 308 accommodation rooms, including large, medium suites, single and standard rooms, 26 teaching rooms, seminar and academic lecture halls, along with facilities such as restaurant, gymnasium, library, and offices, enabling more than 360 people to study simultaneously at the college.

Teachers and curriculum

The branch employs a targeted training approach, backed by a flexible and efficient dynamic teacher allocation mechanism. It invites professors, scholars, and practitioners from across the country to deliver lectures aligned with course themes. Drawing on resources from institutions like the National Prosecutors College, the People's Procuratorate of Gansu Province, provincial prosecutor colleges, and renowned universities, the branch has built a comprehensive faculty pool covering all procuratorial fields. A dynamic faculty management and assessment system is in place, using student evaluations and teaching feedback to continually refine faculty assignments. This ensures that the curriculum remains closely aligned with judicial practice, enhancing the relevance and effectiveness of the training.

In terms of curriculum development, the branch has extensively explored and cultivated local resources, and designated more than 10 organizations such as the Gansu Provincial Museum, the Former Office of the Eighth Route Army in Lanzhou, the Tianshui Industrial Museum, and the Pingnan Rural Revitalization Demonstration Site as teaching bases for ideological and political courses. Lanzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate, Zhangye Municipal People's Procuratorate, and Qingyang Municipal People's Procuratorate are designated as "Teaching Practice Demonstration Bases" of the National Prosecutors College. The branch also offers high-quality courses from the National Prosecutors College and other provincial branches, along with Gansu-specific programs such as "The Long March in Gansu" and "The Silk Road and Ancient Economic and Cultural Exchanges".

Characteristics of the branch

The branch focuses on the national strategy of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. In line with provincial procuratorial initiatives, it organizes cross-regional joint training with neighboring provincial-level regions including Qinghai, Sichuan, Ningxia and Shaanxi. These programs aim to promote exchanges and collaborative teaching, and improve procuratorial capacity in handling cases and governance.

Leveraging Gansu's position as a hub on the Silk Road Economic Belt, the branch is capable of hosting training programs for countries in Central and South Asia, building international cooperation platforms. The Tianshui campus, located near the geographic center of China, is also well-positioned to host training programs from across the country, further strengthening exchanges in environmental protection, business environment optimization, team building, and digital prosecution.

Based on recent achievements by procuratorial authorities in protecting the Great Wall, revolutionary relics, and cultural heritage, the branch can undertake training programs on cultural relics protection for procuratorial organs nationwide. Innovative tools, such as big data platforms and unmanned aerial vehicles, will be integrated into practice-based training sessions. Typical cases will also be incorporated into coursework to enhance case-handling capabilities and contribute procuratorial expertise to cultural heritage protection and the inheritance of Chinese civilization.
